Dim headlights, an old car, and lessons on the wisdom and folly of our lived experiences. “What we learn from experience depends on the kind of philosophy we bring to experience.” - C.S. Lewis
What are your thoughts on humility in leadership? Humility is an absolute if you want to lead well. If you want lift others (your team) up leaders must recognize them before self with a humble attitude. Easy or difficult? DIFFICULT for sure. We must die to ourselves everyday to put others first. It is human nature to be self-preserving so it is a challenge for me everyday to show humility. Part of my morning quiet time routine is to ask God for a fresh start each day and go into my day with humility. That prayer helps but it’s still challenging. I think it is for most leaders trying to be their best!
Absolutely, Andy! If we are going to lead well, humility is a necessity!! And as you've illustrated, humility doesn't come easily or naturally... we have to want it, we have to ask for it, we have to work at it, we have to be intentional...
